The covers held themselves up for me
inviting me into comfort
I resisted mightily
finding all manner of important things to do
like watch Leno's opening monologue
check my mutual fund price
send off an email
log on facebook for the twentieth time
I can hear the bed calling
siren song, lovely lullaby
but I resist, I dig in my heels
scratch off a few lines

In an interview, William
In an interview, William Stafford said he wrote a poem every day. The interviewer asked if they were all good. Stafford said most of them were terrible, but he wrote them every day anyway.
