I danced last night
The music came
And I could not stop it flowing through me
A ribbon in the wind
Fluid, unthinking, open, alone
The soul of water
And night
I danced until I ran out
Of music I loved
The music stopped
But the love continued

And there was no one there

Is there a difference standing at
The top of the stairs looking down
Or standing below looking up
A point of view a salient comment
Heard differently looking up
Than by someone peering down
Distanced by the railing with
Its temptation to go either way

Broken by the dog walking
Ahead parsing autumn leaves
In their russets and browns
Clustered where the wind left them
Before they are scattered once again
In final ease under deep snow
